How to Set Up Text (SMS) Reminders for Participants

Keep Volunteers and Participants in the Loop with a Quick Text

SMS reminders are available for Premium, Campus, and Organization Plan members in the US, Canada, and Australia. Participants opt in to receive text reminders in addition to email — standard carrier charges may apply.

For New SignUps

Participants are automatically prompted to opt into text reminders during the sign-up process. They can choose to receive texts, emails, or both. Reminders default to 2 days before their assignment but can be set anywhere from 1 to 7 days out.

For Existing SignUps

New participants joining an existing SignUp will see the text reminder prompt automatically. Participants who are already signed up will not be prompted automatically — you need to invite them to opt in.

To do this:

  1. Go to the Messages tab in your Organizer view.
  2. Select Signed Up participants.
  3. Send a message directing them to My Info to enter their phone number and enable text reminders. On desktop, they will find My Info via the head/shoulders icon; on mobile, via the three-bar menu.
